Langson Library Open 24-Hours During Finals Week
Posted on 01. Dec, 2009 by Abe in News
Langson Library will be open 24 hours during finals week (Dec. 4 to Dec. 5). Perhaps to avoid confrontation with students, Student Affairs and ASUCI have prioritized funding for this purpose. No word yet on how this will affect the study-in.
In consultation with ASUCI, we are prioritizing student study needs during Finals Week. We are pleased to announce that we will be keeping Langson Library open 24-hours a day beginning 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and ending 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11.
In addition, the Libraries Gateway Study Center, the UCI Student Center including Starbucks, and the Cross Cultural Center will also be open 24-hours a day during finals week.
Good luck on your final exams!

A librarian said they were granting extended library hours for finals week because it would still be CHEAPER than hiring police to kick the study-in protesters.
that might be true, but it’s hard to be cynical about the end result. if not for the planned walk-in, we wouldn’t have had the library be open 24 hours. the administration is reacting positively in this sense. it’s intimidated and wants to avoid confrontation. if we can keep pushing and playing on these anxieties, students and faculty can empower themselves in peaceful and practical ways.
